Science Overview

Science is everywhere in today’s world. Advances in technology and science are transforming our world at an incredible pace, and our children’s future will surely be filled with leaps in technology we can only imagine. Being ‘science literate’ will no longer be just an advantage but an absolute necessity. We can’t escape from the significance of science in our world and it is our job to pass on the skills to the future generation.

The Science Department at WGS is committed to supporting all pupils in achieving their full potential in science and to offer a positive learning experience by providing pupils the adequate courses to continue their science education.

At GCSE we offer both double science and BTEC science and at A Level we offer Biology.

Associate School of the Royal Society

The Science Department promotes the development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills by working closely with Greenwich University in various projects. More recently, students have been working in the project ‘STEM Power’ and, in recognition of our work, we have been invited to become an associate school of the Royal Society.
