Walderslade Girls’ School prides itself on the effective pastoral care of our students. It is our aim to create an environment where our girls feel safe and secure so that they can thrive in their learning and express themselves appropriately. It is essential that we remove any barriers to learning which may prevent a student from reaching their full potential. Therefore it is of paramount importance that every student feels able to access support if and when the need arises.

Here at WGS a student’s form tutor plays a pivotal role in the care and guidance of their needs. This relationship is essential as it is the form tutor that has consistent and daily contact with their students every morning, setting them up for the day ahead. In addition to this, each year group is overseen by a Head of Year. These experienced and dedicated staff oversee the support for the whole year group both from a pastoral perspective as well as monitoring academic attainment and progress.

Students can access help and guidance from the Pastoral Support team. It is here that tailored support can be provided to students on an individual needs basis to ensure that every girl is able to learn in a positive and productive way.

At WGS we realise that there are times when parents and carers would like to discuss concerns which may be able to be addressed by the form tutor or Head of Year, both of whom would be happy to support in whatever way they can. It is essential that parents, carers, staff and students work together to ensure a happy, well rounded student can reach their full potential, even if there might be a few wobbles along the way.
