Skills for Life
Our outstanding teachers deliver a curriculum which reflects the breadth and balance of the National Curriculum, ensuring the progressive development of knowledge and skills. Our cleverly designed curriculum takes into account the local area, our skills for life agenda, the cultural diversity of our school and also the requirements for being a good citizen in today’s world.
We believe that the best learning happens when children take part in purposeful, interesting and exciting experiences. We frequently have visitors to the school and we ensure that children go out on visits linked with their end of unit project.
The subjects studied are:
- English- phonics, reading and comprehension, writing and GpaS (grammar, punctuation and spelling)
- RE (Religious Education)
- Art and Design
- DT (Design Technology)
- PE (Physical Education)
We are very lucky to have our own specialist PE teacher to ensure that our children experience the best possible PE learning opportunities. Being part of a multi academy trust (the Skills for Life Trust) enables us to utilise other specialist teachers. Regular visitors to Chantry include: music, art and dance specialists.
We provide many more opportunities for our children through our Friday afternoon clubs, after school clubs and also our skills for life passports.
